Recruitment
IRB approval must be obtained before any recruitment or screening can take place.
The following elements must be considered when developing recruitment strategies:
- purposes of the research
- research environment
- recruitment methods and materials
- payment arrangements
- timing of the consent process
- inclusion/exclusion criteria
- whether participants may be susceptible to coercion or undue influence
- whether a population that stands no chance of benefiting is being selected to assume the risk
Requesting information about Stanford students from the Registrar's Office
If you plan to request email addresses, biographic/demographic data, or academic data on Stanford students from the Registrar's Office as part of your research, contact Paddy McGowan for information regarding the process to obtain these data before you submit your protocol application to the IRB.
